Overview
LocalZakat is a volunteer-run, zero-commission platform. All donations are transferred in full to the designated campaign representative. Because charitable contributions are generally irreversible, we do not offer blanket refunds. However, under the limited circumstances outlined below, we will review and, where appropriate, process refund or cancellation requests.
Eligible Refund & Cancellation Scenarios
- Duplicate or accidental donations initiated by the donor
- Payment gateway errors that result in incorrect charges
- Campaign cancellations before funds are disbursed to the representative
- Requests by the campaign representative to return a specific donation
How to Request a Refund or Cancellation
To submit a request, please:
- Email support@localzakat.com within 7 days of your donation.
- Include:
- Your full name and email address
- Donation amount and date
- Transaction or Order ID
- Brief explanation of your request
- Wait for our confirmation email, which is usually within 2 business days.
Processing Your Refund
- Approved refunds are issued within 5–10 business days of confirmation.
- Funds are returned via the original payment method.
- Any non-refundable transaction fees charged by the payment gateway will be deducted from the refunded amount.
Cancelling a Pending Donation
If your donation is still pending settlement:
- Contact support@localzakat.com immediately.
- We’ll attempt to cancel and refund in full, provided the gateway has not yet settled the funds.
Finality of Disbursed Donations
Once funds have been disbursed to a campaign representative, donations are irrevocable. LocalZakat cannot retrieve or refund contributions that have already been transferred.
